Remember those fang-like black high heels from Aoi Kotsuhiroi? True killer heels aren’t they. But it’s not the only life threatening pair of heels out there. Madonna’s Chanel Gun Shoes
Madge wore these Chanel pistol shoes in New York for the premier of her movie Filth and Wisdom a few years back, and boy did she get shot at by activist groups. Designed by Laurence Decade for Chanel, Madonna’s killer heels certainly caught the attention of groups such as Mothers Against Murder and Aggression, accusing the pop star and fashion icon of being insensitive and offensive.
Balenciaga’s Tank Platform Heels
These military-inspired high heels are definitely not for covert operations, more like search and destroy. Taking its name from the chains that serve as the tank’s wheels, there Balenciaga heels are sure to create tracks.
Alexander McQueen’s Armadillo Shoes
Many a top models have risked safety and comfort for the sake of fashion, but it seems that these killer heels by McQueen wouldn’t be one of them. Although Lady Gaga and British socialite Daphne Guinness (credited to have worn the first pair in public), supermodels like Abbey Lee Kershaw, Natasha Poly and Sasha Pivovarova refused to wear these 10-inch killer heels in account of their safety which led them to quit the McQueen runway show to make a statement.
Spiked Heels by Christian Louboutin for Rodarte
If this shoe traveled back in time, it could pass off as a form of torture device in the Middle Ages and it would really be a pair of killer heels. Victoria Beckham has been spotted wearing these deadly stilettos and looking so darn femme fatale in them, I might add.
Common Foot Ailments Caused by Wearing Killer Heels
Blisters. Commonly caused by friction or burns, women who wear high heels are prone to having them especially because of the foot swelling caused by the strain their shoes put on their feet, which in turn causes the skin to rub more vigorously to the lining of the shoes. Although blisters are for the most part harmless, they can be a nuisance when walking.
Bunions. These are bumps that occur where the bones of your toe meet your foot. Studies have shown that bunions occur more in women than in men, presumably because of wearing high heels. Bunions are not only unsightly, but equally painful. Stars like Victoria Beckham, popularly known for her love of high heels, is reported to be suffering from bunions and has already been advised to go under a bunionectomy. But Posh however refuses to take it as it would prevent her from wearing her trademark Victoria Beckham shoes – killer heels.
Hammer toes. If bunions protrude outward, hammer toes protrude upward as cause by the toes being scrunched up inside the front of the shoe when wearing high heels. Because of the pain in the joints, it’ll be very hard to walk when you’ve been afflicted with this condition, more often than not, only surgery can correct it.
